Motor Trades Association of Australia (MTAA) representations to Government for the continuance of JobKeeper have been realised with today’s announcement the assistance measure will be maintained for at least the next six months.
The decision to extend the JobKeeper assistance, but with reductions in October 2020 and January 2021, provides the certainty needed for thousands of automotive businesses to plan, keep employees engaged and the doors of their business open over coming months.
MTAA CEO Richard Dudley said today’s announcement was warmly welcomed and thanked the Prime Minister Scott Morrison, Treasurer Josh Frydenberg, and Jobs Minister Michaelia Cash, for listening and acting on the advice of the MTAA, Members and other industries on the need to maintain JobKeeper and clarify ongoing timeframes for the availability of the assistance measure.
